XPENDX PRIVACY POLICY Last Modified: August 17 2016
The xpendx app and website are owned and operated by Butterflyproduction.com, LLC. xpendx (“xpendx” “we” “us” “our”) stores all of your receipts, amounts spent, categories, tags and other data on your mobile device. At no point does that information become available to us. This privacy policy exists to explain the details of how your information is stored and used, and make you aware of the information that is available to us, for the app and for the website (www.xpendx.com).
- Information collected by the xpendx App
The xpendx app collects Personal Information, such as location, spending, receipt photographs, notes, and categories, payment types, calendar entry associated with receipt, star rating, date and time, etc. This information is stored in an unencrypted database within the app, and will be present in any backups of your iPhone (via iTunes or iCloud depending on your settings). We will not copy this personal information without your knowledge, and it will not be sent to us or any third parties or sold to anyone. Receipt information is retained on your iOS device (and backups) until you delete the receipt entry and until the Trash feature is emptied. It is also possible to delete all the retained information by removing the application from your iOS device (assuming you do not restore it from a back up).
If you choose to export a spreadsheet and associated photographs of receipts and send it to someone else then you are sharing your personal data directly with that individual.
Butterflyproduction.com, LLC collects NO Personal Data. We do have access to Anonymous data through Apple’s analytics. “Anonymous Data” means data about you that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Data; Anonymous Data does not permit the identification of individual persons.

Personal Data Collected by Third Parties
The xpendx app uses Google Maps API to find stores near your location and to display a map in the user interface. This data is stored locally on your iOS device, location-based information is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy (http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/), and may be collected and stored by them. Google has a requirement for using its Places API: “If your app allows users to select from a list of places, the app must use the place picker or the place report service.” xpendx does not use the place picker but does use the place report service each time you create a receipt at a store that Google has provided the information. If you manually enter a place that is not in Googles places database, xpendx will prompt you to fill out a form requesting the address, phone number, url, etc. This information along with the devices location is then shared and sent to Google for improving their database. When xpendx communicates with Google via their MAPs and Places API, we do not send any of your personal information to Google. Google is sent the application ID and a key and the location of your iOS device. We also send Google the place ID which was obtained about the store previously from Google.

The website only collects Personal Data from the Support & Contact features. We will not share this data with anyone else. If you provide us feedback or contact us via email, we will collect your name and email address as well as any other content included in the email, in order to send you a reply. We will also retain any information that you submit to us, such as support attachments. Any Personal Data you provide via the website is not linked with your xpendx app data. If we conduct a survey in which you participate, we may collect additional profile information. We may also collect Personal Data at other instances in the site where we state that Personal Data is being collected.
“Cookies” are small pieces of information that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive while you are viewing a web site. We may use both session Cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent Cookies (which stay on your computer until you delete them, or for an extended period of time) to provide you with a more personal and interactive experience while using the xpendx site. Persistent Cookies can be removed by following Internet browser help file directions. If you choose to disable Cookies, some areas of the site may not function correctly.
Our Web site includes Social Media Features, such as the Facebook Like button [and Widgets, such as the Share this button or interactive mini-programs that run on our site]. These Features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our site, and may set a cookie to enable the Feature to function properly. Social Media Features and Widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our site. Your interactions with these Features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing it.
The xpendx Privacy Policy applies only to the use of Personal and Anonymous Data that we collect while you use the xpendx site. Our provision of a link to any other website or location is for your convenience and does not signify our endorsement of such other website or location or its contents. When you click on such a link, you will leave our site and go to another site. During this process, a third party may collect Personal Data or Anonymous Data from you. We have no control over, do not review, and cannot be responsible for, these outside websites or their content. Please be aware that the terms of this Privacy Policy do not apply to these outside websites or content, or to any collection of data after you click on a link to a third party. If you submit personal information to any of those sites, your information is governed by their privacy policies. We encourage you to carefully read the privacy policy of any Web site you visit.
Use of Data
The xpendx site will use your Personal Data only to respond to contact and support inquiries, and to improve our website. We may create Anonymous Data records from Personal Data by excluding information (such as your name and email) that render the data personally identifiable to you. We use this Anonymous Data to analyze request and usage patterns so that we may enhance the content and functionality of the xpendx Service. xpendx reserves the right to use for other purposes and to disclose Anonymous Data to third parties in its discretion.
If you provide feedback on the xpendx app or website, we may use such feedback for any purpose, including making changes or improvements to the app, provided we will not associate such feedback with your Personal Data. xpendx will collect and store any information contained in such communication and will treat the Personal Data in such communication in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Any comments that you might share with us become the property of Butterflyproduction.com, LLC. If you send us information, you agree that: (1) your submissions and their contents will automatically become the property of Butterflyproduction.com, LLC, without any compensation to you; (2) We may use or redistribute the submissions and their contents for any purpose and in any way; (3) there is no obligation for us to review the submission; and (4) there is no obligation to keep any submissions confidential. Any feedback you provide at this site shall be deemed to be non-confidential. Butterflyproduction.com, LLC shall be free to use such information on an unrestricted basis.
Any information, including Personal Data, which you elect to make publicly available on the xpendx site by commenting on blog posts will be available to other users. If you remove information that you have made public on the xpendx site, copies may remain viewable in cached and archived pages of the xpendx site, or if other users have copied or saved that information.

You can determine when this Privacy Policy was last revised by referring to the “Last Updated” legend at the top of this page. Any changes to this Privacy Policy will become effective upon our posting of the revised Privacy Policy on the Site. If we make any material changes we will notify you by means of a notice on this Site prior to the change becoming effective. Use of the xpendx service following such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy then in effect.
